The plethora of opportunities available in Indian Subcontinent is attracting prominent global players in E-Commerce firms like Amazon, Rakuten and Alibaba to expand operations with an annual hiring exceeding 10,000 from past three years and have set target to hire more than 40,000 professionals in the coming years. Every one in five students, who holds a technical degree in computer applications is keen to start a career in E-commerce firm as either a web-designer, application development or social media manager.

The growth is complemented with the availability of latest technology and the change in the trends amongst the students, those who graduate from Computer Science background possessing enough skill set on basic computer applications, choose to get trained for web-designing and app development are upbeat on appointment for any E-Commerce firm.
The huge penetration for digital marketing is pushing most of the firms to go on hiring spree concentrated towards in forming special teams for both online marketing and social media marketing. During the recent campus recruitment by IT majors like Wipro Technologies & Tech Mahindra, there’s a constant demand for web designers, application developers, Cloud computing, mobile computing and social analytics.

On the flipside, the mere presence of professional training institutes in various cities is hampering the career prospects of the students, who are interested to shape up their career in E-Commerce platform. Most of the technical colleges offer basic studies in computer applications and create a vacuum for students in getting trained for professional studies. Despite these hurdles, there are few technical colleges that are offering professional training for the students at an exuberant fare, which leads students to either drop out the plan of getting trained or switch to other career prospect. Most of the academicians are urging the technical colleges to revamp their course study from offering basic studies to professional studies to make the training environment competitive and economical.

The booming Indian Economy, post the global recession is making the country to move forward from being a traditional market based economy to a digital market economy, opening doors for many aspiring students to choose digital marketing as a primary career.
